Heart Flashcards
Lub dub
Lub- av valves closing
Dub- semilunar valves closing
Systole
Ventricle contraction
Diastole
Ventricle relaxation
End diastolic volume
Blood in ventricle at the end of diastole
End systolic volume
Blood remaining in ventricle after systole
About 1/3 of the blood remaining in ventricle after systole
Isovolumetric contraction
Atria relaxed. Ventricles contract
Av valves closed
During systole
Ejection
Push blood out of chamber by opening sv valves
During systole
Isovolumetric relaxation
Atria relaxed. Ventricles relaxed. Sv vaulves closed.
During diastole
Rapid filling
Filling of both atria and ventricle. Av valves open.
Diastole
Atrial contraction
Atria contracts to help push more blood into ventricle
