Heart Flashcards
Where is the Heart 1 point located?
In the center of the axilla on the medial side of the axillary artery
Heart 1 is indicated for pain in the costal and cardiac regions, scrofula, cold and pain of the elbow and arm.
What are the indications for Heart 1?
Pain in the costal and cardiac regions, scrofula, cold and pain of the elbow and arm
Heart 1 requires a perpendicular puncture of 0.5 to 1.0 inch.
Which nerves innervate the Heart 1 point?
Ulnar nerve, median nerve, and medial brachial cutaneous nerve
Avoid the axillary artery during puncture.
Where is the Heart 3 point located?
At the medial end of the transverse cubital crease, in the depression anterior to the medial epicondyle of the humerus when the elbow is flexed
Heart 3 is a He sea point.
What are the indications for Heart 3?
Cardiac pain, numbness of the arm, hand tremor, contracture of the elbow, pain in the axilla and hypochondriac region, and scrofula
Puncture perpendicularly 0.3 to 0.5 inch.
Which vasculature is associated with Heart 3?
Basilic vein, inferior ulnar collateral artery, and ulnar recurrent artery and vein
The medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve innervates this point.
Where is the Heart 5 point located?
On the radial side of the tendon of m. flexor carpi ulnaris, 1 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist
Heart 5 is a Luo connecting point.
What are the indications for Heart 5?
Palpitation, dizziness, blurring of vision, sore throat, sudden hoarseness of voice, apashia with stiffness of the tongue, pain in the wrist and arm
Puncture perpendicularly 0.3 to 0.5 inch.
What is the anatomical structure associated with Heart 5?
Ulnar artery, vein, and nerve
Moxibustion is applicable at this point.
Where is the Heart 7 point located?
On the transverse crease of the wrist, in the articular region between the pisiform bone and the ulna, on the radial side of the tendon of m. flexor carpi ulnaris
Heart 7 is a Shu-stream and yuan-source point.
What are the indications for Heart 7?
Cardiac pain, irritability, mental disorders, epilepsy, poor memory, palpitation, hysteria, insomnia, yellowish sclera, pain in the hypochondriac region, and feverish sensation in the palm
Puncture perpendicularly 0.3 to 0.5 inch.
Which vasculature is associated with Heart 7?
Ulnar artery, vein, and nerve
Moxibustion is applicable at this point.
Where is the Heart 8 point located?
On the palmar surface between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones, where the tip of the little finger rests when a fist is made
Heart 8 is a Ying spring point.
What are the indications for Heart 8?
Palpitation, pain in the chest, twitching and contracture of the little finger, feverish sensation in the palm, skin pruritus, dysuria, and enuresis
Actions include clearing heart fire, calming the mind, and regulating the uterus.
What is the anatomical structure associated with Heart 8?
Common palmar digital artery and vein
Moxibustion is applicable at this point.
Where is the Heart 9 point located?
On the radial side of the little finger, about 0.1 cun posterior to the corner of the nail
Heart 9 is a Jing well point.
What are the indications for Heart 9?
Palpitations, cardiac pain, pain in the chest and hypochondriac region, mental disorders, febrile diseases, and loss of consciousness
Puncture obliquely 0.1 inch or prick with a three-edged needle to cause bleeding.
What is the anatomical structure associated with Heart 9?
Arterial and venous network formed by the palmar digital proprial artery and vein
The palmar digital proprial nerve derived from the ulnar nerve innervates this point.
