What is an acoustic neuroma and what are the symptoms?

A

A schwanomma in the internal acoustic meatus

It compresses the facial nerve and and the vestibulocochlear nerve. The cochlear nerve goes first as it is more susceptible.

Symptoms - Unilateral hearing loss +/- tinnitus, vertigo,CNVII palsy
