What is osteosclerosis?
A
-An inherited disorder that causes hearing loss as he ear is unable to amplify sound

How does osteosclerosis occur?
A
-Because there are 3 small bones in the ear and one of the bones is unable to vibrate freely

A
- Hearing loss
- Ringing

-15-40 years

What is the treatment of osteosclerosis?
A
- Surgery to help bones vibrate
- Hearing aid

What is the Rinne’s test?
A
- Evaluates the hearing loss in one ear
- air conduction is compared to bone conduction (from under and behind the ear)

What is the Weber test?
A
-Detects one sided, middle ear and inner ear hearing loss
-Tested from the middle of the head and ask if its equaling both ears
(webber its right or left)
