What is TB?

A

Infection

  • Curable (6 months of combination therapy)
  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Contagious

  • If affecting the lungs (pulmonary)
  • Transmission via airborne particles

how do you test for latent tb?

A

T - spot is used for those with weakened immune system.

Quintiferon is used before.

Once you checked if they have TB -> see if they have clinical TB - this might be active

DONT DO THIS TEST FOR ACTIVE - MORE FALSE POSITIVE!
