What is a healthy active lifestyle?
A lifestyle that contributes positively to physical , mental and social wellbeing and includes regular exercise.
What are the benefits of a healthy active lifestyle?
Physical - increase fitness, improves performance, for the physical challenge
Mental - for the mental challenge, increases confidence and enjoyment
Social - develop teamwork, work with others, create new friends
What are the reasons for taking part in sport?
Cooperation - many sports are played in teams and working in groups helps improve teamwork
Competition - can be thought as mental as it prepares the mind to compete and helps athletes forget about stress
Physical challenge - setting a task that is challenging but achievable so the athlete will be very satisfied when completed
Aesthetic appreciation - it’s appreciating a performance that is beautiful and not just winning
Developing friendships - taking part in clubs means involvement with other people
What factors affect involvement in physical activity?
Cultural influences - age, gender, religion
Health - illness, health problems
Image - fashion, media coverage
Resources - location, access, time and availability
People - family, friends, role models
Socio-economic - cost, status
What are government initiatives and give an example?
Government initiatives is a compulsory of 2hours of PE in school every week
Sport England - is committed to creating opportunities for people to ‘start , stay and succeed’ in sport
What is the sports participation pyramid?
Foundation - learning or experiencing basic sport drills
Participation - participate regularly in a specific sport activity
Performance - concentrate on sport specific skills and to develop talent in specific sport
Elite - individuals reach sport excellence
Define health
Health is the state of complete mental physical and social wellbeing and not just being free from disease.
Define exercise
Exercise is a form of physical activity which maintains or improves health and physical fitness.
Define fitness
Fitness is the ability to meet the demands is the environment

How well a task is completed
