1) Social - develop teamwork, work with others, make friends
2) Mental - for the mental challenge, increase confidence, enjoyment

What are the REASONS for taking part in physical activity?
Cooperation - many sports are played in teams and working in groups helps to improve teamwork and cooperation
Competition - competition can be thought as psychological as it prepares the mind to compete and makes them forget about stress
Physical challenge - setting a task that’s challenging but achievable makes the athlete feel satisfied when it has been achieved
Aesthetic appreciation- appreciating the performance and not just winning
Social Mixing - being involved in a club means mixing with other people

Performance is how well a task is completed

Cardiovascular fitness - exercise for long period of time
Muscular strength - the amount of force the muscle can exert against a resistance
Muscular endurance - using voluntary muscles for a long period of time
Flexibility - the range of movement possible at a joint
Body composition - the percentage of body weight that is fat, muscle and bone.

Agility - ability to change position of the body quickly and keep control
Balance - ability to retain the centre of mass of the body above the base of support

Power - ability to undertake strength performances quickly

Speed - how quickly a movement can be performed or a distance can be covered
