Health & Safety at work etc Act (1974), primary legislation that governs workplace H&S in Great Britain.
What does the Health & Safety at work etc Act (1974) do?
Places an obligations on employers to ensure and uphold health and safety in the workplace.
What are the principles of the Health & Safety at work etc Act (1974)?

What do the Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare Regulations 1992 do?
Aims to ensure that workplaces meet the health, safety and welfare needs of all members of a workforce, including people with disabilities. Several of the Regulations require things to be ‘suitable’.

- PPE provided free of charge to workers, must be compatible, maintained and correctly stored.
- Provide PPE training and instruction.

What does the Fire Safety Act 2021 do?
A RESPONSIBLE person is required to carry out regular Fire Risk Assessments FRAs and ensure fire safety of structure, common parts and exterior (cladding). Gives leaseholders and tenants a greater voice.
What does the Building Safety Act 2022 do?
An ACCOUNTABLE person is responsible for upholding building safety. Golden thread of information should be kept on the products and materials, particularly with respect to cladding. Appoints property ombudsman scheme.
Explain your understanding of the term HSE?
HSE stands for the Health & Safety Executive
▪ UK national authority for managing work related health, safety and illness issues
▪ Act in the public interest to reduce work related injuries and incidents
▪ Their aim is to protect people’s health and safety by ensuring that risks are properly managed
▪ They also support businesses to change and adapt in order to remain compliant with occupational health and safety legislation
