What is a Risk Assessment?
a legal requirement for firms with 5 or more staff to carry out document H&S risk assessment of all their significant hazards
How do you undertake a risk assessment?
- Idenfity Hazard & people at risk
- Evaluate risks - likelihood, severity and existing precautions
- Record findings
- Review regularly
- Advise thos eaffective of outcome and methods of precaution to minimise / eliminate
What is a method statement?
a document detailing the way a work task or process is to be completed - prior approved

What is set out in surveying safely 2018?
Basic, good practice principles for management of H&S for RICS regulated firms and members

What is a hazard?
Anything that has the potential to cause harm eg. wet floor
What is a Risk?
Probability / likelihood that someone will be harmed eg. slipping on floor

What is set out in the PPE at work Regulations 2022?
Employers duty to ensure provision of PPE for employees and contractors, includes cleaning, security and construction
What is set out in the Corporate Manslaughter & Homicide Act 2007?
Gross breaches of dute of care leading to a persons death will lead to fines, imprisonment and disqualification
What is public liability insurance?
Protects businesses from claims for injury or damage to property. It can cover accidents that happen on business premises or elsewhere. Needed before work commences

- Risk assessment and prevention measures
- details of planning implemetion of H&S policy and control measures
What is the 6 pack of H&S Regulations?
6 regulations introduce in 1993 to clarify how employees must comply with the H&S act 1974

What requirements does the Fire Safety (Regulatory Reform) Order 2005 introduce?
Regulatory Reform Order 2005 requires anyone in control of a building to take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and that people can escape.
Applies to non-domestic property in England and wales.
