What risks are associated with removing roof sheets? and what mitigation measures can be put in place?
A
- Potential exposure to dust (Respiratory equipment, licensed contractors)
- Disposal of Asbestos/Cement Fibre materials (Licence contractors, emergency plan in plance, provision of warning notices, arrangements of regular collection)
- Working at Height (Ladders forbidden, Provision of Cherry Pickers or Scaffolding, Provision of safety nets & warning notices.
- Impact of the workings of the farm (Exclusion zone, additonal temporary housing, alternative storage of fodder to prevent contamination)
- Fragile Roof Structure (Provision of crawl boards, ensure safe access onto roof with cherrypickers or scaffolding, appropriate warning notices and ensure any person to go on the roof has PPE)
- Slips & trips (Ensure good site managment, PPE & Correct footwear)
- Electric Shocks (Provide mobile lighting not connected to building, qualified electrican to make safe, provision of appropriate warning notices, consider any over head lines)
- Moving machinery (ensure all operators are appropriately qualified, vechicles have warning lights and buzzers)
- Noitce (PPE)
- Worker Fatigue (Welfare facilities)
- Weather (Temporary lighting/ weather watch)
