What is a consultation?
The consultation remains the main and basic tool general practice and as Pendleton eloquently put it: ‘it’s the central act of medicine which deserves to be well understood
What does a consultation model help with? (4)
To structure the encounter
To avoid to get lost during the process
To manage well the consultation in time and space
To reach easily to a diagnosis
To reach an agreement in terms of management plan
To bring in surface the concerns the patient may have and the hidden agenda.
