Human Development
UN - “The process of enlarging people’s choices allowing them to lead and long and healthy life, to be educated and to enjoy a decent standard of living; also political freedom, human rights and self-respect”

Developing countries being able to use goods/services that developed countries have come up with, to benefit themselves

The Sustainable Development Goals
A set of global development targets adopted by the member countries of the UN
Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Signed in 1948 with the aim of providing a common understanding of the rights every human should be entitled to; also forms a basis of freedom, justice and peace
Cairo Declaration on Human Rights
Guarantees many of the same rights as the UDHR and serves as a living document of human rights guidelines prescribed for all members of the OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) to follow, but restricts limits set by Sharia
The European Convention on Human Rights
In 1950, this was drafted as a treaty to protect human rights
The Geneva Convention
4 conventions that offer protection to civilians, medical and aid workers, wounded and prisoners of war
The Corruption Perception Index
Created in 1995 and it is based on how corrupt the public sector is
Development Aid
Financial aid given to developing countries to support their long-term economic, political, social and environmental development
Military Action
A military engagement, a combat between two forces, neither larger than a division and not smaller than a country, each has an assigned or perceived mission
