What are the limits of a biomedical epistemology?
Medically unexplained symptoms
Define contested illness
An illness that is questioned or doubtful in the medical community
Explain what makes an illness a contested illness
Lack of scientific evidence or being unsure about the legitimacy of the illness
Define medically unexplained symptoms
When the person you are seeing, as well as you think there’s something wrong with you but no one can figure out what’s actually wrong with you because there is no physical change to see

They treat people but they don’t actually know why
How are people commonly treated when they have medically unexplained symptoms?
They a re treated quite negatively by people around them and are often asked - Well what’s actually wrong with you?

What to doctors tend to do in some cases of medically unexplained symptoms?
Still recognise that patient but try and press them towards physiological testing and think that its all in their head
