Medicare Levy/ Surcharge

A

The medicare levy is a 2% tax paid by everyone to cover the cost of the public health system and the surcharge is an additional 1-1.5% surcharge that is applied to those who earn a higher income (over 90,00), this is to encourage those who can afford it to take out private health insurance
