Physicians
must be licensed.
medical practitioners who prescribe medication and diagnose and treat individuals who have acute or chronic conditions.
Chiropractors
have specialized training pertaining to them musculoskeletal system. They have limited scope of practice concerning prescriptions and diagnoses.
Nurse Practitioners
hold a masters or doctoral degree in nursing. They may prescribe medications under the guidance of a physician.
Physicians Assistants (PA’s)
May prescribe medication’s under the guidance of a physician. PA’s hold a bachelor’s degree and 2yrs of education in PA school.
Medical Administrative Assistants (MAA’s)
check in patients at the front desk, answer the phone, schedule patients for appointments, interview patients, worth with charts and electronic medical records, and monitor and order inventory/supplies.
Medical Assistant’s (MA’s}
perform routine clinical duties under a physician, nurse practitioner, or PA. MAs may take vital signs. Collect, prepare, and preform lab tests, take x-rays, sterilize instruments, assist doctors with procedures, and electrocardiograms (EKG’s).
Pharmacy Technician Professionals
Require skills in areas such as inventory management, nonsterile and sterile compounding, pediatric and geriatric drug calculation, and nuclear and chemotherapy waste management.
Medical Billers
Ensure all patients and health insurance companies are billed correctly.
Medical billers must understand medical coding language, know how to read medical invoices, and talk with patients and health insurance companies daily to make sure all invoices are paid on time.
Medical Coders
Don’t interact with insurance companies or patients often. Instead they spent time assessing and coding data.
Nurse
Their job will change based on a hospitals specialization.
Doctors
Typically specialize in a specific area of medicine.
Physical Therapy Aides
work with physical therapists to provide care.
Occupational Therapy aides
Assist occupational therapists in providing services such as motion exercises, splint support an injury, and wound care.
Also work with patients to help them regain the ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs).
Speech pathology assistants
Work directly under licensed speech pathologists. They help speech pathologists in conducting hearing screenings, checking equipment, and completing administrative work.
