What Is the role of Adrenalin?
Triggers the fight or flight response increasing heart rate and readying the body for activity
What is the role of insulin?
Lowers blood sugar levels, released from the pancreas and sent to cells and the liver to take in sugar from the blood and into the cells. This can then be stored as glycogen in the liver cells
What is the role of Glucagon?
Increases blood sugar levels, released from the pancreas and sent to the cells and the liver to break glycogen and release the sugar back into the blood.
What is the role of Thyroxine?
Increases your metabolism including all chemical processes mainly controlled by enzymes. This includes respiration. This would therefore affect muscle activity and cell health. From the Thyroid gland
What is the role of Calcitonin?
from the Thyroid gland controlling levels of calcium and phosphates. It prevents calcium being released into the blood.
What is the role of Somatotrophin?
Pituitary gland encouraging growth and reproduction in cells.
What is the role of Prolactin?
From the pituitary gland, stimulating mammary glands to produce milk.
What is the role of LH?
From the pituitary gland. Triggers ovulation.
