What is the HSWA 1974
Is the primary piece of legislation covering occupational health and safety in Great Britain.
Section 2 HSWA
Mainly concerns employers and what they must do:
Provide and maintain plant and systems of work that are safe
Safely use, handle, stole and transport articles and substances
Provide instruction, information, training and supervision
Write a safety policy
Section 3 HSWA
‘Employees and self-employed people must ensure that people NOT in his employment who may be affected by his work are not exploded to the H&S risks’
Section 4 and 6 HSWA
4- landlords and occupiers should maintain buildings and provide safe access.
6- designers, manufactures, suppliers and importers to design and construct safe articles, and carry out necessary tests on their equipment.
Section 7&37 HSWA
7- employee has a duty to take their own health and safety and that of others.
37-body corporate, it is an offence for a manager, directors or similar officer to have connived or consented to an offence being committed or contribute to any neglect on his part
