why is smoking targeted
smoking is a preventable risk factor, half of all long term smokers will die prematurely, and the exposure to environmental tobacco smoke also causes the diseases and premature death in adults and children who dont not smoke, people living outside major cities and people from indigenous backgrounds are more likely to smoke.
build healthy public policy on smoking
laws on advertising and packaging of tobacco products, increased taxation on tobacco, and laws banning smoking in pubs, clubs and all commonwealth governments buildings in Australia
creating supportive enviornments
reducing the risk of exposer to environmental tobacco smoke can help those who choice not to smoke stay healthy and happy, anti-smoking laws and no smoking in places that serve food like restaurants.

close the gap targets
- close the gap in life expectancy within a generation, halve the mortality rates for indigenous children under five within a decade, halve the gap for indigenous students would drop out before year 12.
