Q

Flexibility and Strength are important fitness components for a gymnast. Using examples, explain where each is used in gymnastics (2 marks)

A

Flexibility is used in asymmetric bars, flexibility is the range of movement possible at a joint, this is used on the bars because there needs to be a large range of movement possible to move around the bars and onto the other bar. Strength is used in the vault because the gymnast needs to get high in the air when they push off the springboard to perform numerous twists and turns.
