The cause of disease/ the science of the causes of disease
Define pathogenesis
how the disease develops (cause -> manifestation)
What is a symptom?
What the patient feels/ sees
What is a sign?
What a doctor/medical professional observes
Define diagnosis
The process of determining the nature of a disorder by considering a patients signs and symptoms, along with any test results or scans.
What is a prognosis?
The assessment of the future course/ outcome of a patient’s disease, based on knowledge of the disease and of other patients with a similar general health, age and the same sex.
What is natural history?
The study and description of organisms and natural objects
Define classification of disease
The systematic arrangement of similar diseases on the basis of certain characteristics.
