what is the meaning of health?
health is a complete state of physical, mental and social welbeing and not merely the absence of disease.
what is phsical welbeing?
physical wellbeing is the ability to maintain a healthy quality of life that allows us to get most out of our daily activities withount undue fatigue or stress.
what is mental welbeing?
mental welbeing means feeling good, both about yourself and about the world around you.
what is social welbeing?
social welbeing is the measure of your interpersonal relationships.
what is economic welbeing?
economic welbeing means people have their most basic survival needs met and have sustainable income and assets so they can prosper.
what are micro-organisms?
- they are single-celled organisms
- they are too small to be seen with the naked eye
- they are found practically everywhere on earth
- they are also commonly known as germs, bugs and microbes
- they are generally divided into 3 groups:
- bacteria
- viruses
- fungi
what are painkillers? what is another name for them?
they soothe symptoms but won’t affect the pathogen. anaglesics
what is an antiseptic?
they kill pathogeen on living tissue
what is a disinfectant?
kills pathogen on surfaces
what are antibodies?
they are released from white blood cells + helps with eventually killing the pathogen
what is a balanced diet?
a balanced diet contains all the energy and nurtients the body needs.

- carbohydrates (bread, pasta)
- water (orange, tomatoe)
- protine (eggs, fish)
- minerals (avacado, banana)
- fats and oils (cheese, milk)
- fiber (rice, beans)
- vitamins (brocoli, kiwi)

amino acids
what are carbohydrates made up of?
sugar (glucose)
what are fats and oils made up of?
fatty acids and glycerol
what are lipids made up of?
1 glycerol and 3 fatty acids
what are protines used for?
growth and repair
what are carbohydrates used for?
to release energy
what are lipids used for?
for enegy storage, to insulate and to make cell memberane.
what is a drug?
a drug is any chemical substance that affects the physiological state of the body such as how the central nervous system works.
how can drugs be categorised?
- wether the are legal or ilegal
- or the type of affect they have on the body. for example:
- stimulants (caffine, cocaine)
- depressants (alcohl, solvents)
- pain killers (asperin, paracetamol, heroin)
- hallucinogens (LSD
- performance enhancers ( anabolic, steriods)
