Medications for migraines

A

1st line for acute;

  • 900mg aspirin
  • take as early as possible and add an anti-emetic if necessary
  • Triptans can be used at the start of the headache

Prophylaxis options;

  • Propranolol
  • Amitryptyline
  • Gapabepentin
  • Botulinum toxin scalp injections
  • Topiramate
