What is the distribution of the headache in migraine?

When should you consider someone for migraine prophylaxis?
> 3 attacks per month or very severe migraines
Where do cluster headaches typically arise and who is most likely to suffer from them?
Around the eye on one side; males in their 30-40s.
What drug is used as prophylaxis in cluster headaches?
Verapamil
Why is it called cluster headache?
Because of the nature of the frequency of the attacks; during the course of weeks/months patients will experience up to 8 attacks per day (each lasting 15-60min) before a period of respite ensues.
Describe trigeminal neuralgia
Facial pain syndrome in the distribution of 1 or more divisions of the trigeminal nerve.
What is the primary cause of trigeminal neuralgia?
Focal demyelination of the trigeminal nerve.
What is the most common type of headache?
Tension headache
