what are the criteria to get CT scan within one hour?
A
- suspected skull fracture
- GCS <13 on arrival or GCS <15 2 hours after injury
- post traumatic seizure
- FND
- > 1 episode of vomiting

what is the criteria for 8 hour CT?
A
- > 65
- History of bleeding/ clot disorders
- Dangerous mechanism (RTA/ fall >1m or 5 stairs)
- > 30 mins retrograde amnesia

what drug might you give someone pre-op with a haematoma?
A
- high dose mannitol
- anticonvulsants if seizing
- ICU admission if necessary

A
- volume inside cranial cavity is fixed
- Blood, CSF and brain in constant state of equilibrium
- increase in one means decrease in other
