HBS friday Flashcards
When you are dehydrated this happens..
•more water will be reabsorbed
• more ADH will be secreted
• osmoreceptors in the hypothalamus will detect increased blood concentration
Urine is carried from the kidney by thin tubules
Ureter
What is totally reabsorb after being filtered
-glucose
- amino acid
Contains receptors for changes in water potential
Hypothalamus
Movement of a substance from tubule to the blood
Reabsorption
99% of water returned to blood vessels
Reabsorption
Brings blood to glummerulus
Afferent artiole
Carries blood away from glomerulus
Efferent artiole
ADH is released when
Blood concentration is too high
Dehydrated must do to conserve water
More ADH and permeable (collecting duct)
What is normally in urine
Urea
Phosphorus
Ketone
Sodium
Potassium
Creatine
What is not found in urine
Glucose and Protein
Over-hydrated excrete excess water
Less ADH
Less permeable
Increases sodium Reabsorption
Aldosterone (in the distal convulating tubule)
Helps maintain fluid homeostasis (blood volume) in the body
Urinary system
