What is the contamination?
Contamination is when a substance adheres
or is deposited on the body, equipment or
environment, creating a risk of exposure and
injury or harm.
You can be contaminated but not exposed
What is exposure?
You have been exposed when a harmful
substance has been ingested, inhaled,
absorbed, injected or irradiated into your
body

What is an Initial Operational Response (IOR)?
Upon arrival, personnel need to consider the possibility that
members of the public may be contaminated and need to
be dealt with as a matter of priority.
