What is a hazardous material
Any item or agents which have the potential to cause harm to humans, animals or the environment either by itself or interaction with other factors.

What is the UN number?
A four digit number that identifies hazardous substances
What is the hazard warning diamond?
Each hazard has a pictogram which depicts the danger presented. The number at the bottom references the UN classification number.
What is the Emergency Action Code?
An alphanumeric code (a number followed by a combination of letters) which gives an indication to emergency services of the initial actions to be taken.
The code can refer to the EAC card for interpretation. This is issued to all LFB operational staff, and should be carried in the fire tunic.
What is the ADR code also known as?
The Kemler code
Where can information on everyday hazardous materials be found?
On it’s cover packaging and container label

How would a vehicle carrying a variety of hazards be identified?
It will have plain orange hazard plates.
These indicate a general hazard.
Where must tankers display their hazard placards?
On the sides and at each end of the container.
