What does Malum prohibitum mean?
it means illegality.
It reflects the traditional legalistic definition of crime
It is not necessarily harmful e.g. Smoking weed.
What does Malum in Se mean?
It means harmful.
Not always defined as a crime
Can occur in a fully legal way
E.g. Poverty
What is Zemiology
This is the study of harms, but not considered criminal.
It is mainly caused by States and corporations.
What is Social harm?
It is caused by social inequalities and exclusion e.g. war and poverty.
What is ecological harm?
Caused by modes of production. E.g. pollution and fracking
What is Global harm?
Supra-national crime committed on a global scale.
What is Green criminology?
It is the study of environmental harm.
What is meant by speciesism
It puts humans above animals and discriminates on those grounds.
What is ecological justice?
The idea that humans are merely just apart of a large and complex ecosystem.
What is meant by primary green crime?
this is crime that does direct damage and destruction to the environment.
What is meant by secondary green crime?
This is crimes related to the evading of global regulations regarding climate control. E.g. Nations ignoring CO2 output rules.
What is meant by Tertiary green crime?
environmental harm as a result of conventional crime.
The protests of this usually lead to decriminalisation of individuals.
