Generally harder and stringer than softwoods,
Generally close grain = more dense, can be finer sanded because of this,
Usually more expensive than Softwood

Come from coniferous trees also called evergreens,
Generally quicker growing than hardwoods,
Generally have needle like leaves and usually bear cones,
Branches are usually more knotty than hardwoods,
Not as durable as hardwoods most will rot
