Give an example where we, as humans can store information w/o computers
Paper
Give an example of optical storage
CD, DVD, and Blue-ray
What is bigger, MB or GB?
GB
How does Optical Storage work?
Uses different reflections of light to read data, and uses a laser to write data
How does Disks work?
Some bits on the Disk are flat and some have bumps (a pit). The laser will shine down and will bounce straight up, the reflection might be a binary 1, if there was a little bump/pit , the laser will shine down and will reflect in a slight weird manner, which will be read as binary 0 —> therefore you can have loads of this and have files created in binary.
Where is the info stored on the Disk?
On the disk
How do you read Disks?
Using the laser
Name a con about disks.
Can store less than other storage
