Foreign Flag vessels and US flagged vessels engaged in foreign trade require pilots. Pilotage is optional for US vessels engaged in Coastal trade provided they have a federally licensed pilot onboard.

Port Townsend is US Point of Entry. Quarantine is enforced in accordance with regulations of the US Public Health services.
