When should you wash your hands with soap and water, in preference to alcohol-based hand sanitiser?
A
- After several applications of alcohol- based hand santiser
- If your hands are visibly soiled
- When caring for patients with vomiting or diarrhoea
- After using the toilet
- Before handling food

How do you wash your hands?
A
- Bare below elbow and cuts covered;
- Wet hands;
- Apply soap;
- Lather soap palm to palm for 10-15 secs (away from water);
- Palm to back of hand, fingers overlapped (and vice versa);
- Palm to palm, finger interlocked;
- Rub each thumb in each palm, rotating;
- Rub fingertips of one hand in other palm, rotating;
- Rub each wrist, rotating;
- Rinse hands;
- Turn off tap with elbow/paper towel;
- Dry hands using paper towels;
- Dispose of paper towels as domestic waste.
