A
avascular necrosis of the lunate which can lead to progressive wrist pain and abnormal carpal motion

Blood supply scaphoid bone
A
1) major blood supply is dorsal carpal branch (branch of the radial artery
- enters scaphoid in a nonarticular ridge on the dorsal surface and supplies proximal 80% of scaphoid via retrograde blood flow
2) minor blood supply from superficial palmar arch (branch of volar radial artery)
- enters distal tubercle and supplies distal 20% of scaphoid

A
- ulnar or median nerve palsy
- Volkmann’s ischemic contracture
- leprosy
- hereditary motor-sensory neuropathy
- failure to splint a crush-injured hand using intrinsic plus posture
