Growth and change

Q

James 1:5 TPT

A

And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace.

James 1:6 TPT

A

Just make sure you ask empowered by confident faith without doubting that you will receive. For the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next. Being undecided makes you become like the rough seas driven and tossed by the wind. You’re up one minute and tossed down the next.

When you are half-hearted and wavering it leaves you unstable. Can you really expect to receive anything from the Lord when you’re in that condition?

James 1:21 TPT

So this is why we abandon everything morally impure and all forms of wicked conduct. Instead, with a sensitive spirit we absorb God’s Word, which has been implanted within our nature, for the Word of Life has power to continually deliver us.

Q

James 1:19-20 TPT

A

My dearest brothers and sisters, take this to heart: Be quick to listen, but slow to speak. And be slow to become angry, [20] for human anger is never a legitimate tool to promote God’s righteous purpose.

Q

James 1:22 TPT

A

Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception. So always let his Word become like poetry written and fulfilled by your life!

Q

James 1:23-24 TPT

A

James 1:23-24 TPT
If you listen to the Word and don’t live out the message you hear, you become like the person who looks in the mirror of the Word to discover the reflection of his face in the beginning. [24] You perceive how God sees you in the mirror of the Word, but then you go out and forget your divine origin.

But those who set their gaze deeply into the perfecting law of liberty are fascinated by and respond to the truth they hear and are strengthened by it-they experience God’s blessing in all that they do!

If someone believes they have a relationship with God but fails to guard his words then his heart is drifting away and his religion is shallow and empty.

Q

James 1:27 TPT

A

True spirituality that is pure in the eyes of our Father God is to make a difference in the lives of the orphans, and widows in their troubles, and to refuse to be corrupted by the world’s values.

Instead it is each person’s own desires and thoughts that drag them into evil and lure them away into darkness. [15] Evil desires give birth to evil actions. And when sin is fully mature it can murder you! [16] So my friends, don’t be fooled by your own desires!

Q

James 2:8 TPT

Your calling is to fulfill the royal law of love as given to us in this Scripture: “You must love and value your neighbor as you love and value yourself!” For keeping this law is the noble way to live.

Q

James 3:2 TPT

A

We all fail in many areas, but especially with our words. Yet if we’re able to bridle the words we say we are powerful enough to control ourselves in every way, and that means our character is mature and fully developed.

Q

James 3:6 TPT

A

And the tongue is a fire! It can be compared to the sum total of wickedness and is the most dangerous part of our human body. It corrupts the entire body and is a hellish flame! It releases a fire that can burn throughout the course of human existence.

Q

James 3:9-10 TPT

A

We use our tongue to praise God our Father and then turn around and curse a person who was made in his very image! [10] Out of the same mouth we pour out words of praise one minute and curses the next. My brothers and sister, this should never be!

17
Q

James 3:13 TPT

A

If you consider yourself to be wise and one who understands the ways of God, advertise it with a beautiful, fruitful life guided by wisdom’s gentleness. Never brag or boast about what you’ve done and you’ll prove that you’re truly wise.

18
Q

James 3:14-15 TPT

A

But if there is bitter jealousy or competition hiding in your heart, then don’t deny it and try to compensate for it by boasting and being phony. [15] For that has nothing to do with God’s heavenly wisdom but can best be described as the wisdom of this world, both selfish and devilish.

19
Q

James 3:17-18 TPT

A

But the wisdom from above is always pure, filled with peace, considerate and teachable. It is filled with love and never displays prejudice or hypocrisy in any form [18] and it always bears the beautiful harvest of righteousness! Good seeds of wisdom’s fruit will be planted with peaceful acts by those who cherish making peace.
