What is a bad trip?
Resulting from severe, terrifying thoughts and feelings, fear of losing control and despair
Peyote onset and duration
Effects felt within 1/2 hour, lasting 12 hours
Psilocybin onset and duration
Felt within 1/2 hour, last up to 5 hours
LSD onset and duration
Felt within 30-45 min, lasts 6-8 hours
MDMA onset and duration
Felt within several minutes to 1/2 hour, lasting 1-3 hours
Usual methods of administration
- insufflation
- oral
- smoked
- transdermal
Overdose signs
Condition similar to heat stroke, convulsions, intense bad “trip”
General indicators (13)
- body tremors
- dazed appearance
- difficulty with speech
- disoriented
- hallucinations
- impaired perception of time and distance
- memory loss
- nausea
- paranoia
- perspiring
- piloerection (goosebumps)
- synesthesia
- uncoordinated
What does psychotomimetic mean?
Something that mimics psychosis
What are pseudo hallucinations?
When the user is typically aware that what they are seeing, smelling, hearing isn’t real but is a product of the drug
