Q

Theory of Haley/Madanes (7)

A

SIMILAR TO MRI, focuses on:
- sequences of behavior
- communication patterns
- here and now (doesn’t give attention to intra-psychic process)
UNLIKE MRI, focuses on:
- importance of hierarchical structure
- emphasis to cybernetic & Erickson values
- lengthened duration of sequences (not S1, S2)
- stages in therapy (adjustment is important)

  • Madanes believed: symptoms = metaphors for internal states. less focused on attempted solutions/problems in hierarchy
