What is the order from superficial to deep of the gluteal region muscles
- Gluteus maximus
- Gluteus medius and piriformis
- Gluteus minimus, Sup + inf Gemelli, Obturator internus, and Quadtratus femoris
Where does common peroneal nerve and tibial nerve come from
sciatic nerve
What are the posterior thigh muscles lateral to medial
biceps femoris,
Medial side: semitendinosus- long tendon to pes anserinus and semimembranosus (flat tendon)
all from ischial tuberosity (except short head of biceps)
What type of arterial supply is there in the posterior compartment of the thigh
There is no large artery supplying the back of the thigh, perforating branches from profunda femoris which come through adductor magnus muscle. The femoral artery only comes to the posterior compartment at the bottom through adductor hiatu.
What is the job of the acetabular labrum
Fibrocartilage ring inside the socket helps to deepen the socket and add more stability
