A
- uncontrolled haemorrhage from a non-compressible wound site
- unable to control haemorrhage by other measures including direct pressure or CAT tourniquet

A
- ocular trauma

What are the precautions for quick clot?
A
- dressing unable to contact point of bleeding

What is a quikclot dressing?
A
- dressing impregnated with kaolin, which works on contact with blood to activate the clotting cascade and improve control of bleeding
- direct contact with the source of bleeding is required for the dressing to be effective
- cleaning pooled blood out of the wounds prior to application will increase the likelihood of contact with the source of bleeding and improve effectiveness of the dressings
