What is haemostasis?

The stoppage of blood loss from an injured blood vessel

What is primary haemostasis?
A
- Interaction between platelets and damaged endothelium to create a platelet plug
- This with vasoconstriction to lessen blood loss

A
Adheres platelets to endothelium, released by endothelium

A

What are the signs/history of thrombocytopenia?
A
- Bleeding after minor cut
- Access to poisons or tx like aspirin
- Purpura and petechiation (small bleeding sites in mm/skin)
- Platelet numbers <20 x 10^9/L, servere if less than 10
