Infections:

- Idiopathic pulmonary haemosiderosis

- Pulmonary infarction
- Elevated pulmonary venous pressure (heart failure, mitral stenosis)
- Ateriovenous malformations
- Pulmonary veno-occlusive disease

- Impaired coagulation (over-anticoagulation)
