what is G-CSF
Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor -> a growth factor that is given post chemo to increase granulocytes
what is DIC
a rare but serious condition that causes abnormal blood clotting throughout the body’s blood vessels
what is seen in a DIC blood test
low platelet count, elevated D-dimer concentration, decreased fibrinogen concentration, and prolongation of clotting times such as prothrombin time (PT)
what is tumour lysis syndrome
tumor cells release their contents into the bloodstream - either spontaneously or in response to therapy, resulting in renal blockage and the characteristic findings of hyperuricemia, hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia, and hypocalcemia
