Q

Explain what a cue is

A

A cue is a prompt that stands at the root of every habit. Oftentimes, a cue is urged forward by a crav- ing. You’re usually unaware that a craving is driving your behavior.

By figuring out how to spark a craving and rewarding it, creating a habit becomes easier.

Q

What is a chain reaction of habits?

A

Keystone habits matter more than most habits because they cause a chain reaction, changing many other habits in the process.

Use radical self-awareness to identify the keystone habits.

Keystone habits to create culture - makes the values clear, in the heat of a difficult decision or a moment of uncertainty

Q

Will power?

A

It is a muscle that is trained and exerted only a finite amount of times.

Will power is also pretty unreliable…..

I want to rely on some more lasting mechanisms, such as having a different goal and thus a different alternative to a “bad behavior”

For example doing hard things (a run in the morning) doesd not require will power but the environement and system change: going to bed early so its easy for you to wake up, nice bresakfast plan , looking forward to the run itself.

destiny

“The behaviors that occur unthinkingly are the evidence of our truest selves…just as a piece of land has to be prepared beforehand if it is to nourish the seed, so the mind of the pupil has to be prepared in its habits if it is to enjoy and dislike the right things.”
