Define cva stroke
Rapidly developing clinical signs of focal or global disturbances of cerebral function with symptoms lasting 24hrs or more or leading to death with no apparent cause other than vascular origin
Types of stroke
Ischemic: when a clot clogs a blood vessel courting blood flow to the brain usually by atherosclerosis
Hemorrhagic : result from weakens blood vessels that ruptured and bleeds into the brain , onset is sudden usuall hypertension types: intracerebral , subarachnoid
Signs and symptoms of sudden onset of stroke
LOC
FACE IS RED
BREATHING IS NOISY
PULSE IS SLOW
ELEVATED BP
MAYBE IN DEEP COMA

Paul’s tubbing to collect urine Samples
If onset is within 4hrs give thrombolytics like tenectaplase
After 4 hrs anticoagulant and antiplatelets are given
If MAP >150 IV LEBETALOL
If MAP 130-149 oral ace or ccb
Tx underlying cause
Statins for lipdemia
Control blood glucose dm
Mannitol if cerebral edema
Nurse pt in in 30 degrees elevated position
Prevent bed sores
