- Built the Akal Takht in Golden Temple.
- Gave the Sikh faith the concept of Miri and Piri (Royalty and Sainthood).
- Opened missionary centres and spread the message of the previous gurus.
- Rescued Hindu princes from prison.
- Introduced concept of morning choirs which were later used in religious ceremonies and processions.
- Trained his followers in martial arts, encouraged them only to use sword to protect the weak and the poor.
