IVIG works by modulating the immune response, reducing inflammation, and potentially blocking the harmful antibodies that are attacking the nerves.
Intravenous Immunoglobulin
also known as plasma exchange, is a process for removing dangerous antibodies from the bloodstream. It entails separating the patient’s blood cells from the plasma, which includes the antibodies that trigger the immune system to attack the neurons. The plasma is subsequently replaced by a donor or synthetic plasma replacement.
