A

A plumb line is a string or wire attached to the ceiling of the room that is weighted so that it falls perfectly perpendicular to the ground for postural analysis.

The client stands beside of hehind a plumb line so the therapist can see whether the client’s spine and other joints are out alignment from their center of gravity.

A

E-stim is a gentle electric stimulation of specific muscles that causes deep relaxation after an injury. E-stim is not appropriate for all clients, but a doctor may prescreibe it if a muscle is in severe spasm.

A

Hydrotherapy means “water therapy” and it refers to the therapeutic use of temperature. Examples include applying an ice pack or a heating pad to the injured area.

A

Under this type of conract, the employer is not responsible for paying payroll or Social Security taxes, so the therapist’s take-home pay is higher, but therapists are responsible for paying those taxes on a quarterly basis. Therapist will only be paid for time spent doing massages.

A

In a clincal setting, such as a chiropractic clinic, a massage therapist’s work will be billed to insurance as manual therapy. It is often measured in units of 10-15 minutes.

A
