Q

When preparing a train for service what must you do on the GSM-R?

A

Register the radio using the trains head code. (Check the correct head code is displayed on the radio) This supports the correct routing of calls from both the train and the signaller

17
Q

What code should you use if you encounter registration problems?

A

Company wild card code 99x (found in sectional appendix)
If using a wild card, you would have to use the phonebook to contact the signaller

18
Q

What is the procedure if you receive a ‘registration failed’ message on the display?

A
  1. Check registration code and enter a second time
  2. Contact signaller (using phonebook) in case there is a known issue
  3. After contacting signaller one further attempt using a wildcard
  4. Tell the signaller if this also fails
19
Q

There are a number of point to point call types, explain how Normal and Urgent call types work.
