  • Belileved that he had a God-given mission to secure the future of Christian white South Africa
  • Changed the idea from white supremacy ad the image of apartheid , solution was to offer the blacks the apparent chance to develop separately from the white population in separate areas
  • Bantustans - Created 8 Bantu National Units based on a division of the reserves along tribal lines
  • Looked for independence however were never recognised as independent states and were far too weak
