What is Coulure?

A

the excessive shedding of ovaries and young berries that results in relatively few berries per bunch either during or soon after flowering.

What causes Coulure?

A

Caused by an imbalance in the levels of carbohydrates in vine tissue. Weather conditions which reduce photosynthesis can cause Coulure, as can instances in which there is vigorous shoot growth.
