Growing And Multiplying Flashcards
What is Growth?
It is the increase in the size of an orgasim.
What is Development?
It’s the process of change in an organism leading to maturity.
What is Repair?
The process of restoring damaged tissue to a good condition.
What is cell division?
The process of one pre-existing cell duplicating into another.
What do the three processes; growth, development, and repair have in common?
They all require cells to be duplicated and made.
Calls divide through a process. What is it called?
Mitosis makes identical copies of themselves.
What is Interphase?
The stage of the cell cycle where it spends most of its time.
What is the Prophase?
The stage where the chromosomes are condensing in the nucleus means they thicken and become visible. They become more coiled and can be viewed under a microscope.
What is the Metaphase?
The stage where chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell and the nucleus has been disassembled.
What is the Anaphase?
In this stage, the chromosomes are pulled to opposite sides of the cell with the help of fibers called spindles.
What is the Telophase?
At this stage, the chromosomes are at complete opposite ends. Two new nuclei are forming around the chromosomes. The cell then splits by cytokinesis.
